Jerry Seinfeld is not a fan of hugs, even with Kesha.

Tommy McFly, host of 94.7 Fresh FM’s The Tommy Show, interviewed Seinfeld at the David Lynch Foundation’s Night of Laughter and Song at the Kennedy Center Monday night. On the red carpet, he witnessed an extremely awkward moment between the comedian and singer.

During the interview, Kesha ran up to Seinfeld and asked for a hug. He turned her down with a brisk “No, thanks,” not once, but three times before she ran off.

“I don’t know who that was,” he told Tommy.

It’s pretty excruciating to watch.

Since Tommy’s video went viral, Seinfeld has commented on the moment.

When “Extra’s” AJ Calloway asked why he didn’t want to hug Kesha, the comedian responded, “I was right in the middle of an interview, it was a little off. When you get to be my age and you’ve done a couple things, you have your own reality. In my reality…I don’t hug a total stranger. I have to meet someone, say hello. I gotta start somewhere… hug isn’t first moment of a human, two humans. I never did that.”

“I got a borderline harassment case here!” Seinfeld joked, adding, “I’m sure I would’ve liked her, but I need to know who are you.” He did mention that he and Kesha laughed about it later.
