IHOP Changes Name to 'IHOb'

June 6, 2018

By Erin Thibeau

IHOP has "changed" its name to IHOb, and the chain revealed on Monday that the "b" stands for...burgers?

The company's Twitter bio now reads, "Burgers so burgerin’ good, we changed our name to IHOb. For burgers."

Customers can see what all the fuss is about with IHOP's new line of seven "Ultimate Steakburgers."

'We're always going to have pancakes on the menu, we're always going to be IHOP, but America loves burgers, and America loves IHOP, and we thought this was a fantastic combination to bring America’s burgers to an iconic brand like IHOP," the company's president, Darren Rebelez, said on "Fox & Friends."

The New York Times calls this a "21st century marketing success story," as the name change isn't official, but rather part of a marketing campaign. (Point IHOP.)

IHOP, the International House of Pancakes, has announced that it's changing its name to "IHOB," and the company wants customers to guess what that "B" stands for.

The chain plans to reveal what the "b" is for on June 11 (it's "breakfast" right?), but the Internet already has some guesses.
