Tuesday night was all about the global community as former President Clinton and first daughter Chelsea hosted an event for the Clinton Foundations Millennium Network at Hamilton Live in downtown Washington.

Chelsea chatted with The Tommy Show exclusively before the event about how important it is for Millennials to give back and the challenges they may face to put their efforts to good use.

The event, which was closed to the media, featured hundreds of do-gooders from around the country who gathered to get a glimpse of the Clintons and find out how they can roll up their sleeves and pitch in.

Chelsea shared some of her early memories of weekly Sunday service projects and how the younger generation feels a sense of responsibility.  We also talked about the generational cliff for pop culture references and how young somebody has to be to not understand a good “Cheers” reference (We both think it’s 21).

Chelsea was tight-lipped about a big Clinton family secret — what she’s getting Hillary for Mother’s Day.

Despite my best hardball tactics, she wouldn’t budge, but did share that each year there’s a theme (last year it was “beach”).

Carly Rae Jepsen of “Call Me Maybe” fame and Josh Gad from NBC’s “1600 PENN” participated in the program. They join the ranks of stars like John Legend, Joss Stone, The Fray, Will. I. Am. and more to give their time to the Millennium Network.
